Hossain Bokul
Hossain Bokul is a UK- and Bangladesh-trained legal professional and consultant with experience spanning both jurisdictions. He holds an LL.B. from the University of London and an LL.B. from Stamford University Bangladesh and has worked within the legal profession in London as well as in Bangladesh.
Having spent several years in London before returning to Bangladesh, he brings a cross-jurisdictional perspective to legal and commercial matters, together with a practical understanding of the professional and institutional environments of both countries.
His experience and areas of professional interest encompass immigration and nationality matters, corporate and commercial affairs, property and land matters, regulatory issues, and civil, criminal and family law. He also advises on matters involving business, investment, international mobility and other issues with a UK–Bangladesh or wider international dimension.
A particular area of his practice is cyber and digital law. Hossain advises and assists clients with legal issues arising from the use of social media and online platforms, including matters involving Facebook, WhatsApp and other internet-based communications and services. His experience includes disputes and legal concerns arising from online activity, digital communications, social media and other technology-related matters.
He also has a particular interest and experience in intellectual property (IP), media and entertainment law, advising individuals and professionals working within the creative industries. His work in this area includes matters involving intellectual property rights, copyright, contractual arrangements, professional fees and payment disputes, royalties and other legal and commercial issues affecting actors, singers, directors, performers and other media and creative professionals.
His understanding of this field is complemented by his own involvement in the creative arts. Hossain has experience in film as an actor and director and has been involved with theatre and performing arts in London, including through Docklands Theatre and Performing Arts. This first-hand exposure to the creative sector gives him an appreciation of the practical and commercial realities faced by artists and media professionals, particularly in relation to contracts, remuneration, intellectual property and the protection of creative work.
Beyond legal practice, Hossain has experience in consultancy, public affairs, advocacy and stakeholder engagement at both national and international levels. This work has developed his understanding of the relationship between law, government, business and public institutions, particularly where legal considerations intersect with policy, commercial interests and international affairs.
